2017 Chevrolet Trailblazer makes its official ASEAN debut
The pickup-platform vehicle (PPV) wars is set to take off once more after Chevrolet launched the 2017 Trailblazer at this year's Big Motor Sale in Thailand. With it, Chevrolet officially introduced the refreshed PPV in the ASEAN region.
The exterior of the new Trailblazer improved drastically. Its headlights were reshaped with a daytime running lights; while its signature split grill were made wider. The front bumper has now larger lower intakes and repositioned foglights. Also, it wore new wheels paired with revamped tail lights and rear bumper.
It also includes a new dashboard which follows the US-Spec Colorado's design. The restyle climate control system and repositioned air-vents also gave the refreshed Trailblazer a more upright dashboard. Also, the 2017 Trailblazer now offers Apple CarPlay which works in conjunction with MyLink, Chevrolet's infotainment system.
The top spec models in the Thai market come with a new safety feature however. These include: Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Alert, Front, Rear Park Assist, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Trailer Sway Control as well as Hill Start Assist and a driver's knee airbag. Another feature is the revamped electronic power steering that replaced the old hydraulic system in the current model.
In Brazil's market, 2.8 liter Duramax turbodiesel was fitted producing 200PS and 500 Nm of torque. While in Thai-Spec Trailblazers, an updated 2.5 liter Duramax turbodiesel was fitted with power ratings yet to be announced. For the Philippine market, there's no word yet whether the 2017 Chevrolet Trailblazer will be fitted with the updated 2.5 liter turbodiesel or the same 2.8 liter Duramax.
Philippines' official distributor of Chevrolet vehicles, Covenant Car Company Inc., said that the new Trailblazer will be making its Philippine debut around the third or fourth quarter of this year. Though, it may possibly be moved sooner with the upcoming Philippine International Motor Show happening next month.
