2017 Isuzu mu-X facelift launched in Thailand
Isuzu's stake in the pickup-platform vehicle segment (PPV) gets a refresh for the 2017 model year. With it, the mu-X receives several exterior and interior changes that make it more refine and sophisticated, without sacrificing its rugged nature.
Beginning with the front fascia, the lower bumper gets more chrome accents, particularly the foglight housings. Meanwhile, the front grill gets more creases which highlight the car's updated headlights with LED daytime running lights. The mu-X also gets new 18-inch alloy wheels while the rear section receives redesigned taillights with LED lighting.
Stepping inside, the 2017 mu-X features a more refined cabin. More soft-touch materials have been applied in the refreshed PPV while faux wood trim can be specified in top-of-the-line models. For the Thai market, the updated mu-X can be had with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen called iConnect. Completing it all is a new instrument cluster.
Powertrain options available in the 2017 mu-X include the 1.9-liter Blue Power turbo-diesel and the bigger 3.0-liter turbo-diesel. The smaller engine produces 150 PS with 350 Nm of torque while the bigger motor puts out 177 PS and 380 Nm of torque. Philippine-spec models have a lower PS rating of 163 but has the same torque output of 380 Nm.
While the engines remain the same, the 2017 mu-X now gets new transmissions. Gone is the 5-speed automatic as it has been replaced with a new 6-speed unit. The 6-speed manual, on the other hand, now comes with Isuzu's Genius Sport Shift.
