2017 Toyota Vios facelift makes global reveal
After introducing new engines for their best-selling B-segment sedan in mid-2016, Toyota Motor Corporation has now unveiled a new look for the Vios. Introduced in Thailand, the refreshed Vios may arrive in the Philippines soon.
The front end gets a major redesign. The familiar wide chrome grill has been replaced by a sportier a grill. Meanwhile a revamped front bumper gives the 2017 Vios a more dynamic look. It is also gets updated headlights with new daytime running lights. Additional daytime running lights were also fitted on the far corners of the front bumper.
The side profile is carried over from the present model save for a new set of alloy wheel selections. The particular variant seen here comes with chrome door handles, which may only be for the Thailand market. At the rear, the bumper also gets tweaked with a redesigned lower apron as well as LED tail lights with revamped elements.
Inside, it keeps the same dashboard layout, however Thai customers now have the option of choosing a specific theme. Toyota said that Vios models can now be specified with touchscreen infotainment and automatic climate control.
Safety features included in the Thailand-spec Vios are dual front SRS airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), ISOFIX rear child seat anchors, optional reverse camera, traction control (TC) and vehicle stability control (VSC).
All variants of the 2017 Vios are powered by the familiar 1.5-liter NR-FBE inline-four with Dual VVT-i. It produces an output of 108 PS at 6000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm. All models are also exclusively matched to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Toyota Thailand offers the 2017 Vios in six exterior colors such as Attitude Black Mica, Quartz Brown Metallic, Super White, Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic and Red Mica Metallic.
