Diesel-powered 2017 Honda CR-V specs revealed
Turbo-diesel power will soon be available locally in the next-generation Honda CR-V. With it, the automaker recently released new details about the new i-DTEC engine that will power the compact crossover.
Succeeding the older 2.2-liter mill is a smaller, yet equally powerful 1.6-liter turbo-diesel inline-four. The engine is capable of producing 160 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Unlike the 1.5-liter turbo-gasoline engine which is mated to a CVT, the 1.6 diesel will be married to a 9-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This is the first time that Honda connected a dual-clutch transmission to a diesel-powered motor.
Last December 2016, Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) president Toshio Kuwahara confirmed that the next-generation CR-V will be making its local debut soon. If the 1.6-liter turbo-diesel arrives as well, this will be the first time that HCPI will be offering a diesel-powered model in their lineup.
