The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT is a Hemi V8-powered SUV
At SEMA 2016, Dodge debuted their Durango Shaker concept — a high performance version of Dodge’s 3-row large crossover. The reveal heralded the release of the production vehicle, the powerful 2018 Dodge Durango SRT, unveiled ahead of the 2017 Chicago Auto Show.
Like other Dodge cars donning the exhilarating SRT badge, the Durango SRT is powered by a 6.4-liter Hemi V8. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic with all-wheel drive (AWD), makes 475 PS and 637 Nm of torque, and does 0-97 km/h in 4.4 seconds.
Air is fed into the power plant via front fascia air intakes, a hood scoop, and a cold-air inlets positioned on top of the fog lights. The Durango SRT gets 20-inch allow wheels and a retuned, adaptive suspension system. More power entails better braking power, and the SRT trim comes with bigger discs — 380 mm in front and 350 mm at the rear. A special SRT application is also built into the redesigned 8.4-inch touchscreen to provide readouts of crucial vehicular data, while acquiring a high-end version of FCA’s Uconnect infotainment system which supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
AWD on the Dodge Durango SRT includes five driving modes to address performance preferences along with terrain variety via different power distribution. These modes are Street, Sport, Track, Winter, and Off-Road. The Durango SRT’s brawny muscle affords it outstanding towing capability — certified to pull heavy loads up to 3,900 kg.
To keep the driver and all passengers secure, all three rows hold captain’s chairs. The interiors also feature a hand-stitched dashboard and carbon fiber trim. A T-shaped electronic shifter replaces the knob; pillars and headliners are wrapped in luxurious suede. On the steering wheel, an SRT badge is lit to subtly glow at night. To sound more aggressive, Dodge made sure to tune the exhaust — making the Durango SRT sound like the Charger SRT.
The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT will go on sale in the last quarter of 2017. Pricing has yet to be released.
